"Losing Distance Gaining Perspective" The piece invites the viewer into an interaction of losing a sense of distance between him/herself and two squares. These two motorized squares push and pull based on the viewer's distance from the work. The installation seeks to convey space, and our perception of it, as variable. If we can see space's illusions, we can expand our perspectives in our life-views: to create open-mindedness, elasticize the imagination, and evoke a more empathic multi-perspective way of observing space/our experiences. --- Materials: Elastane fabric, Arduino, Ultrasonic Sensor, Linear Actuators, Aluminum Lab Jacks (hacked/re-purposed), Oak Wood (sustainable forests), Plywood (recycled scrap)
